Elmer Ray Clay, Sr. died Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was born on August 16, 1952, to Arthur Ray Clay and Louise Levich Clay. He was a life love native of Waukegan, Illinois until the death of his wife, Diane Kowski Clay and his health began to decline. Elmer had a successful career in the construction and carpentry field. He knew every aspect of how to build a home. He loved being outdoors especially his long walks, trips to the beach, and working in his yard and flower beds. He was an avid lighter collector.

Elmer leaves behind his four children, Dawn McCluskey (Morgan) of Russellville, Alabama; Meranda Pickering (Rocky, Jr.) of Pontotoc, Daniel Clay (Ronna) of Guntown, and Elmer Ray Clay, Jr. (Amanda) of Guntown; six grandchildren, Jada McCluskey, Samantha Pickering, RJay Pickering, Morgan Clay, Hannah Clay, and Haylee Clay; two great-grandchildren, Ariela and Malachi Taylor; and two sisters, Joyce Chittom, and Donna Davis.

He was preceded by his parents; wife; and brothers, Jerry Clay, Billy Clay, David Clay, and Bobby Joe Clay.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Pegues, Tupelo.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Bro. Stephen Sprinkle officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marshall Tyler Smith, Dalton Edgar Sawyer, RJay Pickering, and Destin Taylor.
