Elmer Lee Steward, 68, of Phil Campbell, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.
He was born on April 21, 1944, to Elmer and Jerrilean Steward. He was a loved and respected Freewill Baptist Minister for forty years and the pastor of Bear Creek Freewill Baptist Church for thirty-five years.
The visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the funeral home. Officiating will be Brother Mickey Crane and Brother Ronald Watson. Burial will be in Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at Phil Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Wesley Steward; nephew, Brad Barnwell; and brother-in-law, Danny Carter.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his mother, Jerrilean Borden; wife, Carolyn Steward; sons, Byron Steward, Brandon (Amber) Steward, Darren (Jessica) Steward; grandchildren, Wesley Steward, Laine Steward and Landon Steward; sisters, Francis Barnwell, Faye Mason and Cynthia Carter; nieces; nephews; and numerous close friends.
Pallbearers will be Dale Holt, Drennen Veal, Charles Cochran, W. J. Buckner, Clarence Brindley and Rex McCarley.
Pinkard Funeral Home will be directing.
