Elmer Glendon Black, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the North MS Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Ecru on April 28, 1935, the son of Walter and Lilly Corenne Smith Black. Elmer was a graduate of Randolph High School and then served in the U.S. Air Force. The majority of his working career was spent driving a truck as a route salesman for Dolly Madison. Earlier he worked for the Fuller Brush Company. Elmer was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active and faithful member of East Heights Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School.
Visitation will begin at 2 PM Sunday with funeral services at 3 PM at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Tim Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Elmer leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Anna Sigrid Black of Saltillo; four sons, Jimmy D. Black of Mariposa, CA, Mike Black of Virginia Beach, VA, Ronnie Black (Cindy) of Dallas, TX, and Andy Black (Beth) of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Justin Black, Michael Black, Cody Black, Dru Black, and Riley Black; one great-grandson, Jaden Black; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
