Ellis Woodrow “Woody” Ashley Jr, age 72 of Decherd, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. He was born in Estill Fork, Alabama on August 31, 1951, to the late Ellis Woodrow and Maggie Mable (Medley) Ashley Sr. Woody was the owner and operator of Woody’s Tree Service for over fifty years, a job he truly loved. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving fast cars, as well as being on his boat at the lake. But most of all, Woody cherished the time spent with his beloved family. All who knew him will remember his kind nature and wonderful sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jean Dodson, and Calvin Ashley; and granddaughter, Kayla Michelle. Woody is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Holly Ashley; children, Mable (Randy) Graham, Jessica (Troy) Rackley, and David (Hayley) Ashley; grandchildren, Cortney (Josh) Harris, Mason Ray, and Aidan Rackley; great-grandchildren, Macon Hatfield, and William Harris; siblings, Carrie Belle Elliott, Monroe Ashley, and Shirley Ashley; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Crawford Cemetery in Alabama.
