Funeral services for Ellis Dean Hopkins, of Bremen will be 2:00, Sunday October 27th at Union Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Cold Springs Cemetery. Bobby Waddle will be officiating services. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Sunday at Union Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Hopkins, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, at the age of 88.
Born on September 18, 1936, in Cullman County, AL, Mr. Hopkins dedicated his life to serving both his country and his family. A retired firefighter with the Air Force, he spent his distinguished career protecting others, culminating in his final duty as part of the 306th Aircraft Support Squadron. His commitment to service earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow servicemen and women.
An avid fan of Alabama football, Ellis rarely missed a game, cheering for his favorite team. His love for the Crimson Tide was rivaled only by his love for his family, whom he cherished deeply.
Mr. Hopkins is survived by his wife, Virginia Hopkins; son, Jimmy Hopkins; sister, Tootsie; and his brother, Shine.
Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his parents, Silas & Lillie Hopkins; and his daughter, Nella Dean.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dewayne Light, Greg Whitlock, Brandon Aaron, Matt Gable, Sam Gable and Marty Overton. Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Light and Rick Garrison.
