Elliott Jeff McCord, age 80, of Guntersville, Alabama left this earthly home on February 26, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born January 5, 1944 in Childersburg, Alabama. He was the son of Talmage and Fannie Lula McCord. He graduated from Randolph High School, and retired from Alabama Electric as an electrician. He and his late wife, Carolyn McCord were married for 41 years.
He enjoyed traveling (only by land) and boating with his significant other, Ellen. He was an avid sports fan – and was usually found watching Auburn football or NASCAR in his recliner while drinking coffee. He was well known in the Georgia Mountain community as the old man on his golf cart cleaning up trash. He loved his family immensely. His smile was contagious and he loved to give compliments. He was saved and baptized as a young man.
He was survived by his significant other, Ellen Griffin; two daughters, Lori Wright (Randy), Wendy Walker (Brian); Grandchildren, Shantelle Helton (Clay), Tiffany Tucker, Mitchell Walker (Michelle), Emma Black (Hunter), and Sierra Wright; Great grandchildren, Austin, Finley, Ellie Grace, Olivia, Grayson, Bryson, Brayden, Fisher, and Ada Jo; brother, Mac McCord; sisters, Carolyn Pinkerton and Juanita Knott and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McCord; parents, Talmage and Fannie Lula McCord; brother, James McCord; and sister, Barbara Martin.
Visitation will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 2 from 12:00-2:00 with the funeral immediately following. Burial will be in Brookwood Cemetery. Brother Robby Boyd and Kerry Knott will be officiating. Pallbearers are Clay Helton, Mitchell Walker, Hunter Black, Austin Helton, Scott Snider, and Doug Green. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth and Joey Morrison.
