Ellen Ruth Farmer Harper – Obituary

Ellen Ruth Farmer Harper, 89 of Arab died peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in Divesicare of Arab.

Mrs. Harper was born November 12, 1927 on Sand Mountain in Marshall County, the daughter of William R. Farmer and Minnie L. Romines Farmer. She married William Adolphus “Dock” Harper July 24, 1948 and moved to Detroit, Michigan. She worked in the automotive industry for many years before retiring to Arab. She attended the Arab Church of Christ and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, traveling and working with her flowers.

She is survived by a daughter: Martha Warner; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Carilyn Harper and William John and Debbie Harper; grandchildren: Jaime (Eric) Bystrom, Lisa Morgan and Robb Warner; great granddaughter: Rachel Bystrom; two brothers: Lee Farmer and Delmar Farmer; two sisters: June Dennis and Frankie Roper; she was preceded in death by her husband: Dock Harper, her parents: William and Minnie Farmer, a brother: John Farmer, a sister: Esther Kennemar and a son-in-law: Donald Warner.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, burial will follow in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township of Michigan. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing local service and assisting the family with burial arrangements in Michigan.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mrs. Harper.
