Ellen Priscilla Powell Nelson, 82 of Double Springs, entered into rest on March 5, 2024.
She was born on February 5, 1942 to Hobson and Luzell Powell. Ellen was a mother to five children, homemaker, artist, gardener, and a “Grammy” for over 42 years. She loved cooking for her family and going to the beach.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother Danny Page will officiate.
Ellen is survived by her children, Clint Nelson (Elizabeth), Johnny Nelson (Sandy), Donna Lay (Richard), Anthony Nelson (Belinda) and Karen Abney (JJ); 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Janice Lolley, Anita Dooley, brother Hobson Powell, Jr.; sister-in-law, Vivian Sutherland; brother-in-law, Perry Nelson (Carolyn).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Donovan Duwayne Nelson; her father, Hobson Lamar Powell; mother, Luzell Spain Powell; brother, Robert Powell; and sister, Nola Powell Cockrell.
