Funeral Services for Mrs. Ella Louise Mitchell, age 88 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. David Holcombe and Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Chandler Springs Assembly Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Grandview Medical Center. She was a resident of Clay County all of her life, and was a loving housewife and homemaker. Mrs. Mitchell loved to keep chickens and to garden. Her greatest joy came from caring for her children and having family gatherings. She loved decorating at Christmas time and cooking for her family. She was well known for her chicken and dressing. Mrs. Mitchell was very protective over her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful and founding member of Calvary Pentecostal church.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her children: Travis Mitchell (Lulu), Lisa Hammock (Alan), Judy Brooks (Mike), and Darlene Harris (Jimmy), all of Ashland; five grandchildren: Kim Stough (Barry), Matthew Mitchell, Amy Jones (Adam), Tiffany Holcombe (Davey), and Jeremy Harris; two Grandchildren adopted-in-love: Michael Wills and Becky Craig; 6 great-grandchildren: Cameron Harris, Olivia Stough, Greyson Jones, Evan Stough, Noah Jones, and Madeline Jones; two sisters: Earline Moore of Dadeville and Patsy Wilt of Ashland; one brother, Franklin Mitchell (Becky) of Ashland, and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Mitchell; her parents, Frank and Minnie Mitchell; three brothers: Leon, Hollis, and Billy Mitchell; and four sisters: Lillian Stewart, Ruby Craven, Jean Lambert, and Feye Mitchell.
Matthew Mitchell, Barry Stough, Davy Holcombe, Adam Jones, Randy Mitchell, and Cameron Harris will serve as pallbearers.
Kim Stough, Amy Jones, Tiffany Holcombe, Olivia Stough, and Jeremy Harris will serve as honorary Pallbearers.
Her visitation will take place on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
