On October 16, 2024, Elizabeth Pauline “Polly” Dendy Shelton passed from her earthly home and entered her heavenly home for eternity. We are sure her husband, Junior, of 67 years eagerly met her with open arms. Pauline was born September 17, 1932 in Minor Hill, Tennessee, but spent the majority of her life in Anderson, Alabama.

Pauline is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence “Shack” Dendy, mother, Coniah McCrary Dendy, sister, Evelyn Dendy, brother, TJ Dendy, great-great granddaughter, Kaidence Bryant, daughter in law, Susan Crumbley Shelton, and son in law, Larry Denham Sinyard.

She left behind her loving children, David Shelton, Kathy (deceased Larry) Sinyard, and Rhonda (Owen) Sewell. Her grandchildren, Heather (Kip) Williams, Drew (Ashley) Shelton, Alana (Tyler) Mobley, Brett Sinyard, Calli (Ethan) Liverett, and Jake (Liz) Sewell. Her great grandchildren, Tori Williams, Trent (Lauren) Williams, triplets Jack, Madison, and Kenzie Mobley, Judd and Giles Liverett, Rowan Sewell, Ansley, Brynley, and Sutton Shelton. Her great great grandchildren Zaiden Bryant, Cash Williams and Cordie Mae Williams. Her sister in law, Martha Horn and brother in law, Harold Shelton.

As a mother, Pauline was always a cheerleader and encourager. Mother was the best listener. Thanks for always being there with a listening ear. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She loved the outdoors. Besides gardening, her hobbies included crafting, reading, swimming and she was a very skilled seamstress. She could also play a mean game of Rook. In her younger years, she loved skating and playing croquet.

She adored the love of her life, Junior Shelton. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren visiting and loved their laughter. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. Our mother enjoyed life to the fullest until the awful disease of Alzheimer’s took her from us. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson for over 60 years where she attended Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Visitation for family and friends will be held October 19, 2024 from 11:00 to 1:00 at First Baptist Church of Anderson. Funeral service will follow with brother JD Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett Sinyard, Drew Shelton, Owen Sewell, Jake Sewell, Tyler Mobley, Kip Williams, and Ethan Liverett.

The family would like to thank El Reposo Nursing Facility for their loving care of our dear mother. Rogersville Funeral Home will be assisting the Shelton Family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
