Elizabeth “Liz” Taylor, 47, departed this life unexpectedly on Friday, September 13, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center of Tupelo. Liz was born on May 18, 1977, in Tupelo, to the late James Robert and Christine Meadows Taylor. She received her education from the Shannon Public School System and was a chef at Ms. Ruth’s Diner for many years from the time their doors opened. Liz also owned and operated Noah’s Ark in Verona and then was a forklift operator for Acco as long as her health allowed.
From a large family, Liz was considered the “fun aunt.” Chocolate cravings at 2 AM from the nieces and nephews was right up her ally. She would spoil them and send them home all wired up. Her grandchildren were her life. “Buddy” as they called her, took every chance she could to brag on them, have fun with them, cook for them and teach them what it was to be loved and cared for, in hopes they would be as loving and caring as she was. She was the life of the party. Her bubbly, strong-willed personality will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memories included her husband, Ricardo; her son, Tyler Pickering, and two daughters, Kristin Pickering and Anna Pickering; her bonus son, Antonio Page; three brothers, Patrick Mason (Michelle), Tony Taylor and Steve Taylor, and three sisters, Penny Ryan (Frank), Patricia “Boots” Young (Gary), and Pam Shook (Stanley); eight grandchildren, Lilith Pickering, Jayden Shelley, Titus Pickering, Princeton Pickering, King Leach, A’Kari Guy, Kamiya Leach, and Meech Pickering; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Liz in death were her parents, grandparents Dillard and Blondie Foster, her brother, Perry Mason, and nephews, Neil and Jamie.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Liz will be at 2 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024, in the Sadie M. Holland Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the time of service. A burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery in Shannon.
