Elizabeth “Lib” Angela Smith Maund – Obituary

Elizabeth “Lib” Angela Smith Maund age 84 of Athens, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Athens Rehab and Senior Care. Mrs. Maund was born November 16, 1929 in Enterprise, AL to Oscar P. Smith and Mildred Murdock Smith.

Services will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014 4:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Athens with Rev. Edwin Jenkins, Phillip Presley and Tee Jackson. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Maund was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. She was a registered nurse, a graduate of UAB Jefferson-Hillman School of Nursing a Red Cross volunteer at Athens Limestone Hospital.

Preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mildred Smith; one sister, Onie Lecompte.

Survived by her husband, John Douglas Maund of Athens; one son, Dr. Michael Douglas Maund of Athens; three daughters, Molly Plunk and husband, John of Athens, Nancy Renee Holly of Athens and Mary Angela McLain and husband, John of Athens; 5 grandchildren, Katie Tosh, Jenny Hodges, Emily McLain, Alex Ford and Kyle Holly; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Holly, Kelvin Holly, Jeff Tosh, Jeremiah Hodges, Billy Fred Pepper, Tom hand, Nathan Ford and Jake Harris.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Athens, AL.
