Elizabeth Kathleen Jackson Pigg, 85, of Toney, AL passed away peacefully at her home Friday, June 4th, from complications of Covid-19. She was surrounded by her loving family when she transitioned to her heavenly home.
Elizabeth was a hard working woman growing up, working the cotton fields of north Madison County from an early age. As a young woman she went to work at Merrimack mill, where she worked until its closing. She then went on to work another 26 years for Genesco before finally retiring at the age of 80.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eardie B. and Pauline Jackson; three brothers, E.L. Jackson, Charles Jackson, and Melvin Jackson; one sister, Vera Ann Jackson; and one great grandson, Tucker William Yarbrough. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Cecil Pigg on Toney; one daughter, Lynn Yarbrough (Rodney) of Harvest; two brothers, Jerry Wayne Jackson (Carol) and Winston Jackson, both of Harvest; three sisters, Geraldine Durham of Hazel Green, Birdie Ferguson of Harvest, and Linda Hovis (Jerry) of Harvest; two grandchildren, Ashley Matice (Jerry) of Hazel Green and Justin Yarbrough (Kimberly) of Toney; six great grandchildren, Brett, Landon, Justin Allen, Avery, Piper, and Daisy; and many nieces and nephews, including her special niece and nephew, Alisha Hovis Barnes and Bobby Hovis.
There will be a graveside service on Monday, June 7 at 2 p.m. at Gatlin Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Hovis officiating.
