Elizabeth Johnson Copeland, age 92, of Leighton, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Visitation will be Thursday, 12-2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Leighton. Her funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary with Kevin Johnson and Phillip Potter officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. Copeland was a Colbert County native. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, a 1940 graduate of Colbert County High School, a homemaker and Mother. She was preceded by her husband of 67 years, Ottis V. Copeland; her parents, John Lewis and Henrietta NeSmith Johnson; brothers, John Johnson, Henry Johnson and J. Fred Johnson; sisters, Alcy Berry, Susie Bond, Oleta Rutherford and Millie Flannagin.
She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Copeland Skipworth and husband Joe; brothers, Leroy Johnson, Vernon Johnson; sister, Hazel Edwards; grandchildren, Dennis Skipworth (Jennifer), Christi Skipworth, great grand-daughter, Mary Elizabeth Graham, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Dennis Skipworth, Claude Berry, Douglas Flannagin, Ray Parker, Oneal Hicks and James Ayers.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dempsey Rutherford, L. B. Mays, Bobby Amos and Truman Kimbrough.
