Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Hopkins, age 82, of the Clay Hill Community of Marshall County, died Sunday, April 26, 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Hopkins was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late John and Ruth Rambo Chapman. She was a member of the Class of 1950 at Forrest High School in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Hopkins retired from BellSouth of Nashville after 30 years of service. She then joined United Telephone Company in Chapel Hill where she continued working for another 15 years, retiring again in 1998. She was a member of Farmington Church of Christ.
Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her husband, William “Billy” Hopkins, Clay Hill Community; daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Dan Sullivan, Franklin, TN; granddaughters, Carrie (George) Lund, Spring Hill, TN, Jenna (Kenneth) Stafford, Clarksville, TN, Sarah Elizabeth Smiley, Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Hailey Lund, Holland Lund, Hannah Lund, Camden Stafford, Zachary Stafford; sister, Marianne Knight, Florence, AL.
Family members will receive friends on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Mars Hill Cemetery with Leslie Shackrick officiating. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery in Marshall County.
Robert Hopkins, Richard Hopkins, James Hopkins, Tex Hopkins, Kenneth Stafford and George Lund will serve as active pallbearers. Members of the Class of 1950 at Forrest High School will serve as honorary pallbearers.
