Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Elizabeth Geneva Rose, age 88 of Manchester and formerly of Alto. She will be remembered as a remarkable mother who raised 4 rambunctious boys and was the model homemaker. She was a master at quilting as was the “Matriarch of the alto Quilters”. She was also a member of the Alto Home Demonstration Club and a charter member of the Alto/Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary. Mrs. Rose is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Melvin A. Rose; sons, James Aaron Rose and Wayne Rose; mother, Lilly Sutherland Rose and father, John Wesley Rose; sisters, Earline Garner and Juanita Shrum. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Kathy) Rose of Sewanee and Troy (Melanie) Rose of Manchester; daughters -in- law, Jelinda Allison Rose of Hillsboro and Vallerie Mason Rose of Estill Springs; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home on Tuesday April 2, 2019 between the hours of 12 noon and 2 p.m. The funeral service will commence at 2 p.m. in the Watson-North chapel with the Rev. Randy Brown of the Manchester First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with friends and family serving as pallbearers. in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/donate.
