Funeral services for Elizabeth Direene Mathis DeBord, 88 of Corinth, MS are set for Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 11:00am at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel with burial in Magnolia Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 25, 2020 from 10:00am until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel. Born August 26, 1932 in Alcorn County, MS, Direene passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Tate Baptist Church. Direene was a retired assembly line worker for ITT. She was an avid gardener of Daylillies and she loved to cook cakes. She loved her dogs, especially Heidi. Direene is survived by her daughter, Paulette Newcomb and husband Jimmy of Corinth; her grandson, Kevin Newcomb and wife Cynthia; her great-grandchildren, Ty Newcomb and Charlie Newcomb; sisters: Shirley Chennaault of Corinth; Johnnie McCord of Iuka, MS; Glenda Brumfield of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Howell Davis; her second husband, Hoyt Leonard DeBord; her parents, Carl Milton and Ruby Lee Shields Mathis and her brother, Bobby Carl Mathis. Bro. Bobby McCord will officiate the service. Magnolia Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Elizabeth Direene Mathis DeBord.
