Elizabeth Brockman Elizabeth “Bitsy” Brockman, age 76, passed away on July 12, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital in
Nashville, Tennessee.
Bitsy was born on November 5, 1946, to the late Wilford and Katherine Brockman in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
Bitsy was raised on a small family farm in Franklin, Indiana, helping her father raise dairy cattle and
grow crops. After high school, she would go on to attend Indiana University to earn her undergraduate
and master’s degrees in Education. After graduating, Bitsy would have the joy of teaching several
different grades in elementary and middle school. She would eventually retire as the school librarian.
Bitsy lived most of her life in Franklin, Indiana and then would move to another Franklin to continue her
life. In 2009, Bitsy moved to Franklin, Tennessee to be closer to her brother, sister-in-law, nieces, and nephew as they were so important in her life.
Following her retirement and move to Tennessee, Bitsy would support and volunteer at BrightStone, the
program her niece attends. She was passionate about helping this organization that helps
adults with disabilities live, work, and thrive. She loved the work that BrightStone does as they help
adults develop mentally, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Also, Bitsy loved to travel, spending time with her closest friends and family, trying new restaurants and
reading. She had very close bonds with many pets throughout her life, but her German Shepherds were
closest to her heart.
Bitsy is survived by her nieces and nephew:  Jenny Brockman, Laura Hill (nee Brockman) and
Jon Brockman; beloved grand niece and nephew: Ella and Owen; and sister-in-law, Rita Brockman.
In lieu of flowers, Bitsy has requested donations be made to BrightStone in honor of her memory.
