Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Shasteen, age 81 of Tullahoma, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was born in Todd County, Kentucky on January 12, 1943, to the late Woodrow Wilson and Nettie Adella (Williams) Oliphant. A loving and devoted mother, she was home to her family, their advisor, encourager, and light of joy. She was strong but humble with a gentle spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her family and made each of them feel so loved. Betty worked with the love of her life and husband of sixty-five years, Johnny, on their farm. Most often, she could be found cooking, gardening, and tending to the farm animals. A faithful, selfless, Christian woman, she had been a dedicated member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church since 1966. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Oliphant. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Shasteen; children, Donna (Steve) Sears, Janet (Scott) Robinson, and Brenda (Tracy) Foster; grandchildren, John Sears (fiancée, Carin), Jay (Randianne) Sears, Jared (Lindsay) Sears, Justin (Jessica) Robinson, Rachel (Trevor) Bates, Chassey Foster (Reed Dillard), Kaydee Foster, and Josie (Dalton) Lewis; great-grandchildren, Tyler Sears, Addie Sears, Cason Sears, Everly Sears, Tucker Sears, Emma Robinson, Ava Robinson, Ridge Bates, Gentry Bates, and Lettie Jane Foster-Dillard; and four-legged friend, Daisy. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Philip McAbee officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Betty Jane Memorial Fund at First Bank which will go towards the construction of a new church pavilion.
