Elizabeth Ann Loess Combiths, age 80, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Russell Loess and the late Bernice Hendricks Loess. She was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering in church ministries. She had a great love for the Arts and enjoyed gardening. She was a wonderful homemaker and cherished family gatherings. She had a vast network of friends all over the country and relished in staying in touch with all of them. She especially enjoyed traveling to two of her favorite destinations, Hilton Head Island and Chicago. Most of all, she treasured the time spent with her family, especially her 3 granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son-in-law, James Stiles; sister, Mary Kay Andrew; brother, John Loess; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carole (William) Mallers and Joan (Edward) Daugherty; nieces, Karen, and Colleen Andrew.
She is survived by her husband and partner of almost 60 years, Wallace T. Combiths, Jr.; son, Bryan (Teresa) Combiths; daughter, Stacey Stiles; sister-in-law, Larayne Loess; granddaughters, Chloe Stiles, Madison Combiths, and McKenzie Combiths; numerous nieces and nephews, and many loving friends all over. She will be sorely missed by the beloved dog Bailee.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. A period of visitation and a reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center or to the Meditation Garden at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center at Cool Springs for their extraordinary care.
