Eliza I. Fisher, age 83, went home to her Heavenly Father to spend eternity with her greatly missed husband and two sweet babies May 22, 2015. Mama was a Warrior, especially when it came to her children. She taught us to be strong and to fight for ourselves. She instilled in us the value of honesty and a strong work ethic. She was the glue that held us together and we will never be complete without her.
Mrs. Fisher was a lifelong member of Vandiver Hollow Missionary Baptist Church where she was the Treasurer for more than four decades. She protected the church funds like a guard dog. No one received monies unless they went thru her first and it better be a darn good reason.
She is preceded in death by her sweet husband, Jessie H. Fisher, infants Elaine and Ray; parents, Robert and Pearl Grisham; siblings, Elsie Davis, O’Nell Pennington, John and Delano Grisham.
She is survived by her children, Paul (Karen) Fisher, Jessie L. “Rusty” Fisher, Elizabeth (Woodrow) Rogers, Peggy (Danny) Thrasher, Faye (Jimmy) Fuller, Sherril (Douglas) Hand and Sarah Fisher; 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen Chaney, Lucy (Chuck) Davis , Martha Malone, Linda (Jimmie) Garrett, Taylor (Jean) Grisham and Luther (Pauline) Grisham; nieces and nephews too numerous to count.
The children would like to give a special thanks to Aunt Helen for being her constant companion, Aunt Mot for helping us care for her, Cheryl Smith for her constant assistance, Laura, Michelle, and Carol Ann of North Alabama Hospice and Dr. Kenneth Rose.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Tim Rogers, Wayne Thrasher, Terry Fuller, and Jesse L. Fisher, Jr.; Lee Tidwell and Steve Fisher.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 24, 5-7 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Funeral services will be Monday, May 25, 2 p.m. at Vandiver Hollow Missionary Baptist Church. She will arrive at the church at 1 p.m. for visitation. Pastor Scott Coffey and Brother Jim Fiscus are officiating.
