Eliza Ann Decatur, 86, died Aug. 21, 2012, with her family by her side at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama.
Her funeral service will be noon on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Florence, Alabama, with Pastor Albert Ingram Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Eliza was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Missionary Baptist Society Circle No. 1, where she served until she was unable to attend. She loved to cook and care for her family. She worked at the former Old Mill Factory as a seamstress for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Polock Decatur Sr.; and a son, Leroy Beckwith.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Isaac P. Decatur Jr. (Marie); five daughters, Doris (the late Rufus) Goodloe, of Indianapolis, Ind., Drs. Janice (Robert) Turner, of Florence, Ala., Barbara (Willie) Jackson, of Florence, Ala., Glenda (Richard) Turner, of Florence, Ala. and Desper Elaine Decatur, of Buffalo, N.Y. She also has one stepdaughter, Pamela Decatur Bethea, of Marston, N.C.; and a sister-in-law, Essie Decatur, of Buffalo, N.Y. Eliza leaves behind a generation that includes 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
