Eligah Bailey, Jr. was born on June 24, 1945, to the late Eligah Bailey, Sr. and Earlean Mason Bailey in Lawrence County, Alabama. He was the oldest child born to their union. He departed this life on Sunday, December 10, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Brittany Fitch.
Eligah attended school and graduated from R.A. Hubbard High School in 1964.
Eligah accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a young age, was baptized, and joined First Baptist Church in Courtland, Alabama. He united with the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Harvest, Alabama, and was ordained as a Deacon. Eligah later united with Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama, and served as a Deacon. No matter where he served, he loved the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of seven years, Sharon J. Chunn-Bailey of Huntsville, Alabama; son, David (Mary) Fitch of Chattanooga, Tennessee; daughters: Cynthia and Malorie Bailey of Atlanta, Georgia; Tiffani Bailey, Shirl Mitchell-Roberts, and Ashley (William) Holden, all of Huntsville, Alabama; siblings: Roseanna Bailey, Rosetta Cook and James Bailey, all of Brooklyn, New York; and Jeremiah Bailey of Decatur, Alabama; mother-in-law, Shirley G. Chunn; brother-in-law, Frederick Chunn; sisters-in-law: Carnell Chunn and Demetria Chunn all of Huntsville, Alabama; twelve grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church (380 Indian Creek Rd NW, Huntsville, AL 35806) with Pastor Timothy Rainey officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Memorial Gardens. Deacon Bailey will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023, and 8:30 until 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
