Mother Elease Jackson-Shackelford (Sister) was born September 23, 1923, to the late Shelby and Laura Jackson in Lawrence County, Alabama. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Decatur Morgan Hospital, Parkway Campus. Mother Elease confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. In years come, she decided to join with her husband Frank Shackelford Jr. at Bethlehem P.B. Church in Hillsboro, AL. Mother Elease was faithful to her church until her health declined. She always worked diligently in her churches. She was a member of her choir, served on the mother board, and was president of the missionary society.
Mother Elease was very loving and caring person to all who met her. She was always smiling and loved God with every fiber of her being. Her life displayed all the qualities of a great woman of God. Mother Elease loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. She loved cooking and was a great baker. Her delicious dressing and fried corn were always a delight by everyone in the family and community.
Mother Elease was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Shackelford Jr., Sons; Jesse Bluitt, Frank III, and Thomas Earl Shackelford; Brothers; William, Samuel, and George Jackson, and her loving parents.
She leaves a legacy of love, long life, good health, and dedication to God. Mother Elease will be truly missed, and her memory will be cherished by those who loved her the most; Three loving and caring daughters, Annie (Jake) Malone of Sheffield, AL, Dr. Lucy (Ronnie) Cohen, and Shirley Shackelford both of Hillsboro, AL; Three dedicated and devoted sons, Coynis (Sarah) Shackelford of Decatur, AL, Larry (Becky) Shackelford of Trinity, AL, and Robert (Jean) Brazil of Huntsville, AL; Two faithful godchildren, Dr. Cheryl Bowman of Decatur, AL, and Jarrod Bowman of Hillsboro, AL; Five affectionate and and loving nieces; Patricia (Herbert) Gray of Chattanooga, TN, Phyllis (Charlie) Glover of Trinity, AL, Minnie (Alfred) Scales of Madison, AL, Vickey Abernathy and Eloise Perkins both of Decatur, AL; Three compassionate and kind mommy dearest; WIlliam (Laura) Shackelford Jr. of Beaumont, TX, Bernard Birgan of Madison, AL, and Gregory (Glory) Scruggs of Decatur, AL; Two faithful and loving brothers-in-love; Bobby (Annie) Shackelford of Town Creek, AL, and William (Helen) Shackelford of Chattanooga, TN; Two special lifelong friends, Eva Horton and Ida Birgan both of Hillsboro, AL; Twenty-two grandchildren, Nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, three loving and caring caregivers, Mary Bowman, Trina Klouda, Lilian Fletcher, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
