A memorial service for Eleanor Mabry Lewis Brown will be Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 2:00 at Montevallo Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Sam Hamilton-Poore officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
Mrs. Brown died on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Riverside Senior Living, Decatur, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robson and Myrtice Mabry; her first husband, Felix W. Lewis, Jr.; her second husband, J. A. Brown, Jr.; a sister, Madge Thomas; a brother, Jim Mabry; and a nephew, Rob Mabry. Survivors include her son, John W. Lewis; her daughter, Mary Ellen Garrett (Mike); their children and grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Lewis Watts (Henry); and nieces and nephews. Survivors also include the children of her second husband, Pam Brown Phagan (Raymond), Allen Brown, Kathy Brown Draper (John), and Paul Brown (Denise); their children and grandchildren.
Eleanor earned two degrees from the University of Alabama and had a forty-year career as a teacher and school librarian. She worked with devotion in her church and several professional and community organizations.
