Eleanor “Jean” (Hall) Akin

Eleanor “Jean” (Hall) Akin, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021, at her home in Hazel Green, Alabama. Born and raised in Langdale, Alabama, she was a graduate of Valley High School, where she met and married the love of her life, David. After graduation, they set out on their grand adventure, courtesy of the United States Air Force. During their travels and service, they welcomed four children, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur & Virginia Hall, step-father O. N. Foster, brothers Rodney and Lee Hall, and many other friends and loved ones. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Henry “David” Akin, Sr. of Hazel Green, Alabama; sons Henry (Terisa) Akin, Jr. of Shreveport, LA and William (Sherrie) Akin of Centennial, CO; and daughters Deborah Haraway of Hazel Green, AL and Michelle Akin of Huntsville, AL. Jean was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, “Nana” to all of the children, and loved by those who were blessed to know her. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Valhalla Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Service will Be Friday at 11:00 am at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel.
