Eleanor G. Moss, 71, of Hazel Green, passed away Thursday, September 8. Eleanor was born in Lexington, Kentucky, but spent most of her life in Alabama.
For most of her career she worked as a bookkeeper, in Birmingham for 20 years and then in Huntsville until her retirement.
She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was loved by all, especially the children.
Eleanor loved purple, strawberries, flowers, butterflies, horses, and hummingbirds. She loved travel and exploring new places, and she loved people. She was always cheerful and ready to help anyone. One of her nicknames was “Sunshine”. She also enjoyed softball and bowling, and she would host board game nights for singles in the church. She loved God, her church, and her
church family. She was steadfast in her faith.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Don Moss; her son, David Gray of Thorsby; her brother, Bobby Gray; and two sisters, Mary B. Hughes and Wanda Bridgers.
Visitation will be held Thursday morning, Sept. 15, from 10:00 – 11:00 at Providence Baptist Church, 1355 Douglass Rd NW, Huntsville, Alabama. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00, officiated by Dr. Blair Waddell. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery, followed by lunch for the family.
