Funeral for Elbert “Leon” Herchenhahn, 70, of Decatur, will be today, November 5, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rayford Milligan officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Herchenhahn, who passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born July 30, 1943, in Decatur to William “Dime” and Linnie Mae Herchenhahn. He was a member of Crossroad Church in Decatur. He was the owner of Mud Tavern Grocery for 30 years and an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Brandon Hulvey.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Sherry Herchenhahn; one son, Bryce Smith of Decatur; two daughters, Kim Boston of Trinity and Missy Hulvey of Fort Myers, Fla.; one brother, William Herchenhahn of Decatur; two sisters, Shelby Wilson and Margret Clark, both of Decatur; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
