Effie Jane Wilkerson, of Rogersville, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.
She was born in Lauderdale County on September 12, 1937, to the late Emmett and Effie Berryhill. She was a member of Hurricane Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be Friday, June 5, from noon-2 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Hurricane Cemetery, with Jimmy Cox officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Weathers, Shane Mitchell, Barry Berryhill, Adam Berryhill, Lee Hooie and Caleb Jones.
Mrs. Wilkerson was preceded in death by her spouse, Horace Wilkerson; siblings, Myrtle Weathers, Nell Brown, Peggy Weigart, Margie Wilke, J.B. Berryhill, Horace Berryhill and Billy Berryhill.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina (Philip) Hooie; grandchildren, Lee (Leah) Hooie and Leslie (Caleb) Jones; great-grandchildren, Sarah Fay Hooie and Emilee Jane-Ann Hooie; siblings, Libby Jarrell and Ray (Bella) Berryhill; others, such as nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for the compassionate care they provided Jane during the past four years. They would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice, especially nurses, Rosa, Stephanie and Katie, who provided exceptional end of life care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home or Gentiva Hospice in memory of Jane Wilkerson.
