Effie Imagene Johnson Gunter, 93 of Hayden, passed away on September 16, 24 at her residence.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended Lawler Baptist Church. She worked many years as a Teacher’s Assistant, helping with special needs children in the Jefferson County Schools System.
Funeral services will be on Thursday Sept. 19, 24 at 11:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Dr. Sammie Reid will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Wednesday 6-8 pm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milligan Gunter; sons, Roger, Harold and Danny Gunter; granddaughter, Breanna Eaton; parents, Lewis and Thelma Johnson and siblings, Lola Mae West, Nola Fay Payne, Vetra Shoemaker, James Johnson and Carlos Johnson.
Survivors include her children, Sheila Payne and husband Doug, George Gunter and wife Teresa, Jeff Gunter and wife Brandi and Marsha McDonald and husband, Terry; grandchildren, Jimmy, Cassie Jennifer, Adam, Jolie, Anna, Lori, Lacy, Jared and Nicholas; several great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Pat Gunter, Linda Gunter and Linda Stanley; sister, Gayree Waldrop; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
