Effie enjoyed raising chickens, especially Bantam hens and White Rock Leghorns, and gardening. She was known as an excellent cook and taking care of her girls. She attended White’s Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Martin J. Stricklin, Jr., Bonnie Marie Stricklin, and Barbara Marcella Stricklin, all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Pam Hubbard and husband Greg, Steve Stricklin and wife Jamie, Stephanie Casteel and husband Chris, Kamela Hill and husband Johnny, and Tim Stricklin and wife Stacy; great-grandchildren, Kala Hill, Kelton Hill, Ella Rose Hill, Olivia Hill, Steven Stricklin, Ashley Stricklin, and Matthew Hubbard; sisters, Molly Word and Hazel Holloway, both of Savannah, Tennessee; and brothers, Gene Bevis of Savannah, Tennessee and Ernest Bevis of Adamsville, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Travis Stricklin; sisters, Delois Bevis, Elsie Franks, and Delsey Holcomb; and brothers, Clarence Bevis and Walter Bevis.
