Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. Edwin “Ray” Hill, age 86 of Decherd.  Mr. Hill passed from this life at his home while surrounded by his family in the evening hours of Tuesday, November 30, 2021.  Mr. Hill was a native of Coffee County but had spent most of his life in Franklin County.  A devout Christian, he was a member of the Decherd Nazarene Church.  He was a very successful route salesman and later a supervisor for the Golden Flake Potato Chip Company.  He retired in 1994 following 22 years of devoted service.  He enjoyed hunting when he found the time but he will be remembered for his love of people, playing cards and digging ginseng.  He was a champion for Christ and witnessed to others at every opportunity.  Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ida Pearl Burks Hill; his mother, Myrtle Kirk Hill and his father, Charles Wesley Hill; brothers, Rev. Charles Hill and Elroy Hill.  He is survived by his daughter, Kay (Allan) Hill-May of Winchester; sons, Michael (Ginger) Hill and Mark (Debbie) Hill, both of Estill Springs; brother, Buddy (Virginia) Hill of Decherd; sister-in-law, Patsy Hill, also of Decherd; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a very special friend, Helen Bradford of Winchester.  The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home Thursday December 2, 2021 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday December 3, 2021 from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home.   Interment will immediately follow the funeral service in Watson-North Memorial Park with friends and family members serving as pallbearers.
