Edwin J. (Ed) Roberts departed this life on Monday, May 26, 2014, at the age of 89 years, 10 months, 10 days.
He was born in Tishomingo County, Mississippi on July 16, 1924, the son of the late Lester Gray and Bertha Lee Faust Roberts. On March 24, 1958, he was united in marriage to Oma Jean Davis, who survives.
Ed served as a United States Marine from 1943 thru 1946. He attended Counce Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing, arrowhead hunting, gardening, and prospecting. Ed had worked for Dixie Bridge Steel and Tank Company in Nashville, Tennessee and Alabama Ship Yard in Mobile, Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Oma Jean Roberts of Counce, Tennessee; children, Judy Faye Davis, Stanley J. Roberts, Jerry Roberts and wife Nancy all of Counce, Tennessee, Pamela Wells and husband Glenn of Harvest, Alabama; grandchildren, Julie Truett, Monica Fletcher, Vonda Strauss, Josh Davis, Brian Davis, Krystal Davis, Michael Parker, and Gavin Roberts; 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vonda Ruth Smith in October, 1955; sisters, Lorene Huffsteckler and Thelma Wright; brother, Junior Gray Roberts.
