Edward L. Newman, 100, of Muscle Shoals, died Saturday, July 21, 2012. His visitation will be Tuesday, July 24th from 6 pm until 8 pm at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral mass will be Wednesday, July 25th at 11 am at Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church with Rev. Don Forsythe officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross cemetery.
Mr. Newman was a native of Wichita, Kansas. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority Fertilizer Division, as a chemical engineer. He was a member of Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, “Great Dad”, and “Centurion”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary Edith Walker Newman; wife, Nellie Mae Newman; daughter, Judith J. Newman Baltrusaitis; son, James H. Newman; and siblings, Helen M. Newman, Virginia N. Shay, John W. Newman, and Jeanne M. Fangman.
He is survived by his son-in-law, Thomas J. Baltrusaitis, Sr.; grandchildren, Thomas J. Baltrusaitis II and his wife Tammy; (their children, Ashley Baltrusaitis and Taylor Laughlin); Deborah J. Smith and her husband Randall; (their children, William Baltrusaitis (his children, Anniya Smith and Malachi Baltrusaitis), Rachel Smith, and Hannah Smith); Vivian Barkley and her husband Carl; (their children, Jacob Barkley and Jessica Barkley), Edward Baltrusaitis and his wife Michele; (their children, Rebecca (Reba) Baltrusaitis and Jessie Baltrusaitis); sisters, Mary Regina Johnson of Houston, TX and Rosemary A. Gard of West Palm Beach, FL.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
