Edward “Gene” E. Strange, age 87 died on Monday, August 28, 2023, at his home in the community of Webster’s Chapel in Wellington, Alabama. He was the only child of William and Loraine Strange. After graduating high school he joined the Marines in 1957. When he returned home, he went to college and became an accountant and income tax preparer. Many of his clients he had for up to 30 years. He dedicated his work to them by being someone who would find an answer to their tax problem no matter the amount of hours it took to solve the problem.
He was a faithful member of United Church of God in Gallant, AL. He enjoyed serving where ever the need was for the brethren. One of his most enjoyable talents for the church was making get well cards. He is remembered by his inspiring anniversary cards for his wife, in which she will always treasure. His first marriage was to Jeanette. They had a son, James Strange, and a daughter, Kathy Strange.
Later he married Lucretia and she had two daughters, Renee Woodard and Regina Martin. Their family grew for 37 years. They now have 8 grand children: Jessica (Chase) Parton, Michael (Kiley) Lockridge, Aaron (Meagan) Woodard, Curry Strange, Colton Strange, Chelsey (Zach) Hayes, Maddy Martin. He now has 13 great grand children whom are Brantlin, Kinley and Kaynoan, Carson, Trinity, Tanner, Tucker, Stormie, Tristan, Waylon, Corbin, Lilah and Finnley. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service for Edward Gene on September 9, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the United Church of God (5280 Gallant Road) in Gallant, AL. After services a potluck meal is planned for all to enjoy the fellowship with each other in his honor. In lieu of flowers, we want all to pray for peace and spread love to all.
