Edward “Ed” Dean O’Malley, age 89, of Columbia, Tennessee passed away on June 21, 2018 at Magnolia Healthcare.
Ed was born on March 13, 1929 in Jefferson, Ohio to the late John and Gearldine O’Malley. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Ed loved to travel, he traveled throughout all 50 states as well as Mexico and Canada. When he was not traveling he found great joy in taking care of his property. He loved to garden and loved to mow his grass, even when it didn’t need to be mowed. Above all, Ed was a wonderful father, he was supportive and kind and was always a source of strength, comfort and support for his daughter, Susan.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Susan O’Malley of Columbia; brother, John O’Malley of Florida and nieces, Stacie and Lisa. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Styles.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from noon until 2:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bob Vassar officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Ed’s friends and family.
Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
