Edward Blair “Eddie” Delk, Jr. Profile Photo Edward Blair “Eddie” Delk, Jr., 89, lifelong resident of Maury County and retiree of Spontex, died Thursday, April 11, 2024 at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Harold Delk, David Morris and Brian Gregory officiating.  Burial will follow in Delk Cemetery.  The family will visit with friends Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Monday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.   Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Eddie was born on April 25, 1934 in Maury County to the late Edward Blair Delk, Sr. and the late Hortense Whiteside Delk.  He graduated from Hampshire High School in 1952 and married Mary Carolyn Fraser on April 14, 1956.  Eddie served in United States National Guard, farmed the family farm in Kettle Mills for several years, worked for DuPont/Spontex for 46 years, umpired and coached basketball and baseball and played softball many years.  He was a member of Highland church of Christ, where he had served as a Deacon and Treasurer.

Survivors include his wife of almost 68 years, Mary Carolyn Fraser Delk of Columbia; daughter, Sherrie (Steve) Farris of Columbia; son, Mark (Rhonda) Delk of Columbia; sisters, Barbara Husband of Seymour, TN and Patricia (Glen) Rodgers of Hendersonville, TN; brother, Harold (Carolyn) Delk of Spring Hill; sister in law, Charlotte Delk of Hermitage; two grandchildren, Ben (Rebecca) Farris of Columbia and Brent (Emily) Farris of Old Hickory, TN; five great grandchildren, Linley Farris, Eden Farris, Jude Farris, Lillian Farris, and Nolan Farris; uncle and aunt, Cecil (Letha Lou) Whiteside of Hampshire; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister; brother, Wayne Delk; and a brother in law, Jim Husband.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Husband, Greg Husband, Patrick Rodgers, Jeff Whiteside, Steven Delk, Jason Delk, and Neil Delk.  Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Hickman, Carole Jean and Carl Sellers, Donna and John Wayne Williams, Sue and Doug Adkisson, and the Elders & Deacons of Highland church of Christ.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Natalie Spradlin and Compassus Hospice and especially Cindy Brooks for their care.
