Edward Allen “Bud” Jones, 69, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his residence. Bud retired from the United States Army as an E6 Staff Sergeant during Operation Desert Storm after twenty years of service. He enlisted in the 1st Calvary Division in 1973, and he later completed training and served with the 82nd Airborne Division. During his time in the Army, he served in Vietnam, Cypress, and Iraq, earning both the William Conley Award and a Legion of Merit. He became fluent in German during this period and learned at least 5 different dialects of the language. Once he retired from the Army, Bud became a truck driver and enjoyed doing that for 20 years. When he wasn’t working, he liked to ride horses and loved cars and motorcycles. Bud is survived by his beloved wife, Angie Jones; his children, Phillip Jones (Dawn) and Nicole Jones; his grandchildren, Seth Jones – E2 of Ft. Hood, Aron Jones, Chloe Jones, Brittney Coptone (Blake), and Angel Spencer; his 5 great-grandchildren; his mother, Zelda Jones; his sister, Linda West (Jerry); his 4 step-grandchildren; his aunt, Patricia Krenek of Temple, TX; his good friend, Lynn Alcorn of FL; many cousins; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Jones; his aunt, Frances Sudduth; and his uncle, Slick Jones. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements.
