Edna Springer Evans – Obituary

Edna Springer Evans, 88, went to be with her Lord on June 25, 2016. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Jim Warren
Mrs. Evans was born November 22, 1927 in Florence, AL. She was a lifelong member of Highland Baptist Church in Florence where she sang in the church choir, and the church trio. She worked at First Federal Savings and Loan for 38 years, where she managed three branches. She was one of the first women to be appointed as Vice President of the bank. She enjoyed meeting with her lifelong friends “The Sidekicks” once a month for lunch.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Acy Lee Evans Jr.; daughter, Kathy Evans Davis; and her parents, James Franklin and Beatrice Todd Springer.
She is survived by her children; Linda Evans Beasley of Oxford, MS, Steve Evans (Debbie) Russellville, AL, Jackie Evans Peden Muscle Shoals, AL. Grandchildren who knew her as Memaw; Christie Padgett (Jeff) Killen, AL, Brian Davis (Dana) Meridian, MS, Stacie Steen (Jeff) Tuscumbia, AL, JeanAnn Gault (Chad) Tuscumbia, AL, Matt Davis (Rhonda) Russellville, AL, Kellie Evans Huntsville, AL, Emily Rudolph Florence, AL, Jesse Peden Muscle Shoals, AL, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Faye Ousley (Gil) Jacksonville, FL, Wanda Gilmore (Bobby) Florence, AL, 6 nieces and nephews, and Linda Bland (also known as LB) longtime family friend/adopted daughter.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Padgett, Jeff Steen, Chad Gault, Matt Davis, Jesse Peden, Jonathan Rudolph, Wes Ousley, and Chuck Gilmore. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Davis and Ben Walker.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Nancy Clanton, Martha Hamner, Delois Dalrymple, Dr. Lyman Mitchell and staff, long time caregiver Karen Spence, Angela Byrd, John Passarella, Sandy Berryman, Rosa Darby, Kim Gaisser, and all of the kind staff and nurses at Gentiva Home Health and Hospice involved in our mother’s care.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Coalition of Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders of NW Alabama, or the American Heart Association.
