Edna Lucille Swortzel Brown, widow of Clyde L. Brown, of 82 Crimora Station Lane, Crimora, VA, passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family members on Sunday, April 26, 2015. She was a loving housewife and mother, and a life long member of Crimora United Methodist Church.
She was born September 8, 1924, at Madrid, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Frederick S. and Mabel Benson Swortzel. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Ellen L. Brown and Irene B. Sensabaugh; and four brothers, Ray, Harry Lee, Walter, and Howard Swortzel; and three sisters, Elsie Batton, Dorothy Batton, and Thelma Wiseman.
She is survived by sons, Harry D. Brown and his wife Brenda of Fishersville; Frederick L. Brown and his wife Cindy of Crimora; Michael G. Brown and his wife Kelly of Crimora; Brian E. Brown and his wife Deborah of Staunton; and Richard G. Brown and his wife Michelle of Williamsburg. In addition, she is survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Augusta Memorial Park with Reverend Gayle Thornberry officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Crimora United Methodist Church.
Friends may also call at the residence of any of the children.
