Edna Johnson James – Obituary

Edna Johnson James, 75, of the Burnout community, Vina, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 29, 1936. She was retired from Wrangler after more than 40 years of service. She was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially harvesting a garden every summer. Until her health declined, she attended all Alabama home football games. She enjoyed various types of needlework, such as quilting, crocheting and needle embroidery.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church, with Brother Dan Hindman officiating. Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Johnnie Houston James; two sons, Jerry James (Lynette) and Terry James (Cyndi); eight grandchildren, Heather Schwartz (Meyer), Neesha Scott (Derek), Amy Bolding (Brad), Todd James (Kendra), Emily Hagood (Jon), Katie James, Sara Gillentine (Joe) and Anna Barksdale (Ryan); 13 great-grandchildren, Kade, Kyser, Madelyn, Kylee, Coby, Brady, Khloe, Zoe, Bree, Noah, Harper, Isabelle, Eva Claire and Baby Scott due in February; three sisters-in-law, Marv Coats, Martha Oliver and Barbara Collum (Forby).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sumpter and Altie Johnson, and two brothers, Hershel and Sam Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Todd James, Brad Bolding, Derek Scott, Jon Hagood, Joe Gillentine, Ryan Barksdale, Ronald Coats, Richard Townsend and Tommy Townsend.
Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 19, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Crandell, the nurses and staff at Red Bay Hospital.
