Edna Ganell Posey Hines, 91, died Monday, November 27, 2017 at her residence on Porter Circle.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Born October 14, 1926 in Columbia, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Posey and the late Artie Brewer Posey. She was a 1944 graduate of Columbia Central High School. On September 27, 1947, she married Powell Hines who preceded her in death August 17, 1992. For many years, Mrs. Hines worked at Tennessee Knitting Mills and was a devoted member of Mooresville Pike Church of Christ.
“Nanny”, as she was called by her family loved nature especially birds and using her “green thumb” to make plants thrive. She was an avid singer, and loved church hymns the most. Mrs. Hines was a talented cook creating wonderful meals for her family and friends. Her most precious gift was loving her family unconditionally often calling each one “darlin.”
Survivors include her devoted daughter, Sandy (Calvin) Dodd of Columbia; and loving son, Bobby (Sheila) Hines of Murfreesboro; sister, Lois Posey Rich of Columbia; grandchildren, Kristie (Scott) Cheek of Columbia; Ginger (Jamie) Smithson of Satna Fe; Megan (Shane) Davis of Chattanooga; Nathan (Caitlin) Hines of Murfreesboro; Lena Warnock of Murfreesboro; and Katy (Ryan) Barnes of Antioch; great grandchildren, Kelsey Cheek of Columbia; Sabrina Smithson of Santa Fe; Mandy (Forrest) Nolan of Santa Fe; Samantha (Alex) Gardner of Hampshire; Grant Davis of Chattanooga; Clara Davis of Chattanooga; Josie Davis of Chattanooga; Beckett Hines of Murfreesboro; Hutton Hines of Murfreesboro; Annie Warnock of Murfreesboro; Birdie Warnock of Murfreesboro; devoted “cousin”, Mashaeka Cathey of Columbia; great great granddaughter her special buddy, Tinslee Cheek; and sister-in-law, Sarah Posey.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Posey; and sister, Lucille Posey Whitehead.
Active pallbearers will be Scott Cheek, Jamie Smithson, Alex Gardner, Forrest Nolan, Scott Walls, Nathan Hines, Shane Davis, Cromer Jackson, and Ryan Barnes. Honorary pallbearers include Alvin and Melinda Luna, Masheaka Cathey, Dr. Belinda Bart and staff, Ashley Calton and Home Health of Middle Tennessee, Brenda Barnhill, Linda Harrington, Faye Hartsfield, Ron & Ruth Ingram, Beemer, and Lady Bug.
