Edna Ann Scott, 91, of Florence, AL, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2024, after a brief struggle with congestive heart failure. Known to everyone as Ann, she was born on June 13, 1933, to Floyd and Lorene Berry Hall in Florence, AL. In 1951 Ann married Johnnie Scott of Florence, AL. The couple lived in San Antonio, TX and Detroit, MI before returning home to Florence in 1957. They spent 51 wonderful years together before Johnnie passed away in 2002. Ann had a warm and welcoming personality and never met a stranger. A lifelong homemaker, she was also active in the Ladies of the Elks and volunteered at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. Ann loved caring for and doing for others. She took great pleasure in hosting family gatherings and entertaining for the holidays. The greatest loves of her life were her grandson and great-grandchildren, and she moved to Alabaster, AL in 2022 to be closer to them. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Wilbur Scott; a son, James Edward Scott; and two brothers, William and Carl Hall. She is survived by her daughter Mary Katherine McBrayer of Tuscumbia; grandson Scott (Anna Mary) Williford of Alabaster; two great-grandchildren, Theresa and Johnathan; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice – especially Nurse Kim – and Ann’s special friend and neighbor, Cheryl Hill, for the wonderful care, kindness and compassion they showed us over the past several weeks. Services will be held in Greenview Memorial Chapel on August 27th, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
