Edith McCullough “Tootsie” Yates

Edith McCullough “Tootsie” Yates, 97, of Huntsville passed away Friday. She was born in an apartment on the 2nd floor of the First National Bank Building on the west side of the square in Huntsville. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang as a guest soloist for many of the churches in the area. She worked at Redstone Arsenal during WWII.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hines Yates, and her daughter, Beverly Sue Reed. Survivors include her son, William “Mack” Yates; grandchildren, Joseph K. Yates, Christopher M. Yates, Shane Sanders and Will Sanders; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Maple Hill Cemetery with Father Joe Lubrano officiating.
