Edith BurrEdith Glover Burr, 83, of Warrior, Alabama, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024. Funeral will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora, Alabama. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm and service will follow at 2:00 pm. Edith will be laid to rest at McCormack’s Cemetery.

Edith was born on September 7, 1940, to Oliver and Edith (“Jean”) Glover of Dora, Alabama and grew up in the Bagley community where she resided with her childhood sweetheart and loving husband of 68 years, Cecil Burr, up until the time of their recent deaths.

Edith spent the majority of her working career as a self-employed cosmetologist. She was a member of the American Legion Post 137 Ladies Auxiliary where she enjoyed donating her time and helping give back to the community. She loved playing Bingo, cheering on the Auburn Tigers, and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in any and all of their sports and activities.

Edith was preceded in death by her father, Oliver Glover; mother, Edith (“Jean”) Glover; son-in-law, Don Blackmon; brother, Terry Glover; and husband, Cecil Burr.

She is survived by her daughters, Bridget Blackmon (Don) of Warrior, AL, Karen Jones (Kenny) of Jasper, AL, and Stephanie Cruce of Gardendale, AL; grandchildren, Tonya Blackmon, Donnelle Russell (Rusty), Chris Cruce, Matt Cruce (Kelsey), Josh Jones (Logan), and Brandon Jones (Natalie); great-grandchildren, Keegan Cruce, Daniel Weber, Peyton Russell, Kane Cruce, Ford Jones, Dallas Jones, Hollis Jones, and Cal Jones; as well as a host of loving family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, St. Jude’s, or to any charity of your choosing.
