On Friday morning, June 28, 2024, our beloved mother, Edith Cissom Ketchum, 86, resident of Ripley, passed away peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Ketchum will be at 2 PM Sunday, June 30 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Saturday, June 29 and will continue Sunday, June 30 from 1 PM until 2 PM on Sunday. Burial will follow in Paynes Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Ketchum was born February 3, 1938, in Jumpertown, MS, the daughter of the late Fant and Ruth Windham Cissom. She was a 1957 graduate of Pine Grove High School and was employed in the sales department for Stanley Home Products for 25 years.

A member of Paynes Chapel Community Church and devout Christian, Mrs. Ketchum enjoyed volunteering with the local 4H clubs and, as a homemaker, loved cooking, especially making and sharing her famous lemonade and chicken dumplings. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, her children and grandchildren brought much pride and joy to her life. Mrs. Ketchum will be remembered for many things: her faith, the love for her church, her involvement in the community and her unwavering love for family and friends.

Memories will continue to be shared by one daughter, Brenda McCafferty (Steve) of New Albany, two sons, Gerald Ketchum (Ester) of Manassas, VA and Jeffery Ketchum of Ripley, one brother, Kenneth Cissom (Nell) of Ripley, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Geraldine Cissom.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Elijah “Eli” Ketchum, one sister, Kay Cissom and five brothers, Johnny, Frank, JW, Elliot and Ray Cissom.
