Mrs. Edith Ann Martin, age 74, of McMinnville, TN, left this world as the angels came to take her to Heaven on Sunday, December 10, 2023. She was born on February 17, 1949 and she always dreamed of becoming a secretary when she left high school. She graduated from Draughon’s Business College in Nashville and became the Executive Secretary for City Bank & Trust Company and the Board of Directors where she served her lifelong business career for 34 years. Ann was a member of the New Vision Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, loved organizing and decorating, tremendously enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandkids, and was a faithful servant who loved God and studying His word. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence Smith Madewell and Louella Jane Hargis Madewell and her siblings Uvonna Moore, J.B. Madewell, Samantha McKeehan, and Jimmy Green.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years Wayne Martin, son and daughter-in-law Lee Matthew and Lori Martin, daughter and son-in-law Danielle Marie and Chris Smith, siblings Billy (Janie) Green, Elma Marie Sapp, Clarence S. (Renee) Madewell, Jr., and Robert Gene “Bobby” Madewell, grandchildren Jared Lee Martin, Ansley Rhea Martin, Reed Martin Smith, and Hawkins Lee Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family members.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Ann will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Phillip Robinson will officiate. Visitation with Ann’s family will be held on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
