Edith Ann Gaines, 86, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born March 18, 1938 to Hubert Durett Stephens, Jr. and Edith Ann O’Connor Stephens. She was a longtime employee of Carozza Furniture. She was a member of Brewer Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to gospel music, bird watching, enjoyed flowers, and most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was fiercely loved and adored by her family and known for her kind heart and great sense of humor.
Services will be celebrated on her birthday at 5:00 pm, Tuesday at Brewer Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Dye, Bro. Keith Wiseman and Bro. Tommy Galloway officiating. Burial will be in Vista Memorial Park, New Albany. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm at Brewer Baptist Church.
She was loved and cared for by her four children, Steve Bell (Anita) of Guntown, Pat Jones (Michael) of Okolona, Tuesday Watson (Bryant) of Brewer, and Terri Enlow of Ecru; eight grandchildren, Savannah Perry (Jason), Hillary Harmon (Tracey), Brennan Bell (Tiffany), Jacob Jones (Brianna), Wesley Ethridge (Haley), Will Ethridge (Marrisa), Kelsie Haley (Brandon), and Daycie Cole; fifteen great grandchildren; Caison, Tate, West, Kennedi, Kingston, Abby, Bailey, Ellie, Annie, Michael Tate, Hudson, Whit, Hank, Wilder and Colter; one brother, Jim Stephens (Elizabeth); her caregivers over the past four years, Prescilla, Sherry, Sharon, Mary, Lola, Leigh, two grandchildren, Jacob and Daycie, and Kelly Wallace; her special friends, Joe and Diane Dye and members of Brewer Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Shands Gaines; her parents; brother, Hubert D. Stephens, III; and sister, Mary Alice Bolton.
Pallbeares will be Mason House, Jerry Cole, Jacob Jones, Brennan Bell, Wesley Ethridge, and Will Ethridge. Honorary pallbearers will be her caregivers.
In lieu of flowers donations can be to Sanctuary Hospice House.
