Funeral Service for Pastor Eddie Vaughn Wood Jr., age 86, of Alexander City, AL will be held Thursday September 7, 2023 at 2 pm. at Benefield Funeral Ashland, AL, with Brother Terry Futral and Pastor Josh Sammons officiating. Burial will follow on Saturday September 9, 2023 in Pitts City Cemetery Wilcox GA.
Mr. Wood was born in Pitts GA, March 25, 1937. Throughout the course of his life, he served in the US Army for 7 years and pastored numerous churches throughout the Southeast. The work that God called Pastor Wood into, lasted from 1966-2015, in which time he touched many lives. Along with working full time in ministry, Pastor Wood also sold life insurance for many years.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Wood; daughter, Naomi Miller (Robert) of Pell City; four sons Eddie Vaughn Wood II (Susie) of Warner Robbins GA, Stephen Wood (Kindall) Franklin TN , Timothy Wood of Perry GA., Edward Hawk (Iris) of Germany, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Eddie Vaugh Wood and Odelle Rose; and his first wife Mary Miller Wood.
Visitation is before the service from 12:30 until 2:00.
Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
