Eddie L. McDonald, age 74 of Cowan, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Unity Medical Center in Manchester after an extended illness. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on January 10, 1950, to the late Robert W. McDonald Sr and Ruth McDonald Brown. He retired from Tennessee Valley Authority, where he had been employed as a heavy equipment operator. Eddie had a passion for NASCAR, old western movies and shows, and classic country music. He also enjoyed being on his farm and tending to his farm animals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie McDonald; and mother of his two daughters, Terrie “Candy” Binkley. Eddie is survived by his three daughters, Terrie Coleman of Decherd, Dina McDonald of Decherd, and Ann Marie McDonald of Cowan; grandchildren, Madison Hopkins, Ayden Hopkins, and Connor Hopkins; and brother, Robert W. (Marian) McDonald Jr. He is also survived by his very special companion of nineteen years, Freda Hughes; her daughters, Lauren Hughes, Monica Hughes, and Megan Campbell; and beloved dog, Hazel. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro.
